Ideas to start in class
1. Make it a fun writing assignment.
Ask students to explore their passions and write about them. Some questions to consider might include: What am I passionate about? What do I enjoy doing that has a positive impact on the community? What do I believe and stand for? Answering these questions will enable students to submit an application! They only had to shoot a 2 minute video explaining the passion they had already written.
2. Learn video skills.
Introduce students to free platforms like Canva and Adobe Express where they can start learning video creation and editing. Have students film their passion. They can then test their video skills by editing video clips or adding special effects. While this extra content isn’t required at all to submit an application, it can be a great way to help students learn new skills.
3. Work on applications during downtime.
Are there 10 minutes left at the end of class? Introducing Students to the Taco Bell Foundation Live Más Scholarship! Let them use the extra time in class to brainstorm ideas for their application videos. Presenting in class or study hall is also great since high school students have some extra time to work.
4. Explore careers related to their passions.
Are there career studies courses? Or a course that encourages students to think about their future? Invite your high school students to brainstorm things they are truly passionate about and connect those passions to potential careers. This is a great activity to get students thinking about their future while gathering information to help them submit a video for this scholarship opportunity!
